Technical support on gender equality and women empowerment (USAID PHER)

In May 2024, the USAID Partnership for Higher Education Reform project provided technical support to the University of Danang and Vietnam National University, HCM on the topic of gender equality and women’s empowerment in education and research.

The subject of gender equality and women’s empowerment is a pivotal, overarching strategy important to the project’s success and to ensure sustainable outcomes for the project. In working sessions, the project expert, Associate Professor Nguyen Thi Van – Vice-Rector of the University of Labor and Social Affairs, shared her expertise and provided guidance on applying the SAGER (Sex and Gender Equality in Research) model as a framework for enhancing the awareness needed to help promote women’s engagement in academia.

Through 2 technical support sessions, delegates were provided with insights into policies and practices related to gender equality and women’s empowerment within the context of Vietnamese higher education.
